A note from Kara

Children, Adolescent, Teen, Adult & EMDR Therapist

As a therapist, I believe strongly in valuing and protecting the inherent dignity of each person. The therapeutic process provides a safe space to honor each unique life experience, including the struggles and challenges. The work of healing is never linear, and it requires incredible courage and strength. To walk alongside you in the courageous journey of healing is my greatest joy and privilege. I believe in the importance of systems thinking, viewing situations from a holistic understanding of the interplay between relationships, contexts, and interdependencies. As we all exist within a bigger system, I am committed to being a bridge builder - connecting young people and families to resources and networks of support.

My experience includes working with foster, adoptive, and kinship families, as well as adolescents through a youth-development curriculum designed to empower teens with the tools and opportunities needed to avoid risky behaviors. My passion is partnering with young people on the path to flourishing and abundant life, helping them reach their highest potential, all while honoring the family system and recognizing the value of healthy attachments. I hold a strengths-based, trauma-informed lens. I am trained in EMDR and also use techniques of both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and play therapy.
