A note from Kristen

Children, Adolescent, Teen, Adult & EMDR Therapist

I am curious and passionate about bringing emotional healing to both children and to women’s mental health struggles.  Some children are quoted to have “problematic” behaviors.  Unfortunately, these problematic behaviors radiate messages that need another set of lenses to investigate, understand, and support to effectively bring about healing and real change.  Other struggles may go underneath the radar yet changes in academics and interpersonal relationships emerge suggesting a different story; unexpected and worrisome shifts in our children’s behavior and emotions.  I offer warmth, integrity, and care with a well-rounded approach to support you and your child.

I have found the use of child-centered play therapy to address children’s symptoms of anger, anxiety, depression, impulsivity, inattention, and the various symptoms that come along with trauma and stress.  I believe in getting at a child’s level, seeing what they see, thinking the way they think, and navigating their world which is among the “big” people and their language which is quite different from their own.  Healing and change can occur quickly when children are allowed  to speak their language which is through play because this is the way in which they learn and travel in our big people world.

I am a mother and am familiar with all the hats women and mothers wear to navigate their complex worlds.  I am moved to work with you as a partner in your therapy journey and/or alongside your family.  I am currently in training to become an EMDRIA certified therapist.  EMDR is an evidenced-based treatment utilized to ameliorate the harsh impact of trauma on our emotional lives.  It is effective both with adults and children.
